And That's That

Well, I guess that's that. Miles, in his post-game press conference, finally confirmed without wriggle room that he was staying at LSU. I'm still split on this. He may have been the perfect fit for that job. He may have been a colossal blunder. Surely there's a reason for the reports of many in the old vanguard at Michigan, including Lloyd Carr, trying to prevent Miles from being the guy. Say what you will about Carr and his sometimes rude brushes with the media, but he's a stand-up guy. A good man. If he didn't want Miles at Michigan, there was probably a reason.

Anyway, the best and most detailed look at what's transpired over the last 48 hours comes, not surprisingly, from the Detroit Free Press's Michael Rosenberg. One of the few Detroit-area columnist that's actually worth a damn.

In the article Rosenberg (like Bill, but with sources), indicated Brian Kelly is not on the docket. In fact, evidently he was never on Michigan's list. And if that's true, it must surely have more to do with off-field conduct/attitude, because, on the surface, his on-field results are pretty tough to argue against.

Rosenberg indicates the top two at this point are likely California's Jeff Tedford and Rutgers' Greg Schiano. Schiano is the more interesting to me at this point, but that's just on surface recognition. I do, however, trust that AD Bill Martin will get the right guy for the job. Unless it's Ferentz. Though, while the idea of Ferentz gives me the heebie-jeebies, he's not the doomsday scenario. If Mike Debord somehow gets the job Armageddon will have officially arrived.
